Privacy Policy
Effective April 28, 2026
Vérité Report ("we", "us", "the service") is operated as a small independent project. This policy describes what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. We aim for the minimum necessary collection to operate the service responsibly.
1. What we collect
When you use Vérité Report, the following information is collected and stored:
- An anonymous browser ID. When you first visit, a random identifier is generated and stored in your browser's local storage. This ID has no link to your name, email, or any other personal information. It exists only to let us understand usage patterns (how many distinct visitors, how often briefings are run, retention).
- A hashed version of your IP address. Your IP address is converted to an irreversible cryptographic hash before storage. The original IP is never stored. The hash is used to enforce rate limits and detect abuse.
- Your queries and the system's responses. Each briefing query is logged along with timing and cost metadata. Queries are not associated with any identifying information beyond the anonymous browser ID and IP hash described above.
- Aggregate usage events. Actions like "briefing rendered," "settings opened," or "rate limit reached" are logged as anonymous events for product improvement.
2. What we do NOT collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account information (Vérité Report does not currently require an account).
- Your browsing history outside of Vérité Report.
- Your location beyond what can be loosely inferred from your IP hash.
- Any information about you from third-party data brokers or advertising networks.
3. Third-party services
Vérité Report uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Anthropic — your queries and any web search results pulled in response to them are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic has its own privacy policy governing how it handles API traffic. Anthropic does not, by default, train its models on API traffic. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Cloudflare — used for hosting and serving the website. Cloudflare may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security and operational purposes. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Web search providers — when generating a briefing, Vérité Report performs web searches against the public internet. Search queries themselves do not include your identity.
4. Cookies
Vérité Report does not use cookies. Browser local storage is used to remember your preferences (theme, text size, anonymous ID) but this data never leaves your device unless explicitly sent as part of a query or telemetry event.
5. Data retention
Anonymous query logs and event data are retained indefinitely for the purpose of operating and improving the service. Rate-limit counters expire after 48 hours. Because we collect no personally identifying information, we have no way to associate stored data with you specifically — meaning we cannot delete data attributable to a particular individual on request, because no such association exists.
6. Children
Vérité Report is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the service.
7. Your rights under GDPR / CCPA
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have legal rights regarding your personal information. Because Vérité Report does not collect personally identifying information, the practical scope of these rights is narrow — but if you have questions about what data may exist tied to your IP hash or browser ID, contact us at the address below and we will respond in good faith.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top and post the change on this page. Your continued use of Vérité Report after such changes constitutes acceptance.
